Meet the Team
Andy started his career in 1992 and has spent 28 years with the Porsche brand. During that time, Andy spent the best part of a decade on the Porsche race car side of things in the UK and Le Mans, before moving over to the everyday Porsche road cars, and finally running the garage he started his career in 12 years earlier as an apprentice.
He then moved on and spent a short period with a few other respected specialists before quickly realising his ambition to start Porchetech in 2003.
Andy has built and owned some fabulous Porsches, including a 3.0 RSR. His main goal these days is keeping things professional by hiring the very best technicians in the UK and keeping their training up to date on all the new Porsche models. He also gained his pilot’s licence in 2017 and decided to build a plane, which he and his wife Pam and have been flying for the past couple of years.
Pam started Porchetech with Andy in 2003 and, although she had no motor industry experience, she did own and run her own hair salon business and has proved not only to be super-efficient at running the garage office, but has super powers with regards to people skills too. Pam also grew up with Porsches in her family and so totally understands the passion that clients have for their cars and always manages to deliver. It’s a joy to hear her giving technical advice as she is always spot on and, if she is not sure, she is happy to put a call through so that clients have direct access to our Gold Technicians for peace of mind questions and answers. Pam is a passionate family girl, and that includes her dogs who also come to work and are a part of the Porchetech team.
Steve joined Porchetech in 2012 as an apprentice and worked alongside Andy, learning very quickly. He is one of those guys that just gets things done - technician’s qualification, driving licence, any learning courses…he just breezes them all. He is currently heavily involved with the day-to-day operations and this is something yet again he manages in his own professional style. Clients really like his informed and honest approach and the technicians appreciate his understanding of the technical aspect. It’s a win-win situation and allows us to consistently perform and exceed our clients’ expectations. Steven enjoys attending car shows and is currently building his retro motorcycle.
Porsche Gold Technician
Gary joined Porchetech in 2018 and is a Senior Porsche-trained Gold Technician with over 30 years’ experience with a well-known Porsche main dealer. His vast knowledge in everything from the early models to the very latest hybrids really make him a great asset to the company, with the ability and willingness to train the younger apprentices and technicians who really look up to him. He has spent his whole Porsche career constantly training and developing as his hunger for information holds no bars. His real passion and ability come into effect with diagnosing and fault finding – so much so that he has been called ‘Gary Potter’ once or twice because we are sure he has a magic wand in his toolbox. He has been involved heavily in the Factory Porsche racing scene, has held a rally licence and built and raced his own rally car. He has also instructed on rally driving courses and is super quick in karts!
Senior Porsche Technician
John is our most recent senior Porsche Technician and used to be one of Andy’s apprentices from when they both worked together at a different dealer. We are super pleased he has joined us as he is a very professional technician with an eye for attention to detail. He is well-versed in everything from engine and gearbox rebuilds to total restoration, and he used to be a member of the race team. A father of three, John is now looking to run the London marathon for a well-known charity.
Aieden is a hugely talented apprentice and very eager to learn. He has an old-school mini that he has lovingly restored, is doing very well being mentored by the senior technicians and is a joy to be around. He is about to start his final year at college, and we have every confidence he will progress to become a technician with the highest of standards and, most importantly, stay with us as a valued team member.
